Jordan Smith

Christian Singer-Songwriter Known for Winning Season 9 of "The Voice"

Jordan Smith is a Christian singer-songwriter known for winning Season 9 of NBC's "The Voice" back in 2015.

Smith, who was born and raised in Harlan, Kentucky, first started singing in his church choir. At the same time, Smith fell in love with the likes of gospel singer Shirley Caesar, pop songstress Sara Bareilles and the legendary Whitney Houston. Smith's eclectic influences inform his sound even today.

He continued his musical journey through his education at Lee University where he majored in music business.

For his audition for "The Voice," Smith sang Sia's "Chandelier," and all four judges turned their chairs around. Smith chose to be a part of judge Adam Levine's team after Levine told him that he thought Smith was the most important person to ever be on "The Voice."

Smith followed his "The Voice" win with his full-length debut, 2016's Something Beautiful, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart. That same year, he released a Christmas album, 'Tis the Season, which peaked at #3 on the U.S. Holiday Album chart.

Smith is also a songwriter in his own right. He announced in May of 2018 that he wrote the song "Ashes" for the Deadpool 2 soundtrack, which was then performed by Celine Dion.

His sophomore album, Only Love, was released in August of that same year.
