Jorge Valdano

Former General Director of Real Madrid CF

Jorge Valdano has been a pioneer in establishing relations between the world of sport and business. He has achieved success at the highest level in both fields and has become a key figure in joining management, elite sport and talent management.

In his conferences he talks about leadership and the need to create a shared vision for every member of the team to achieve the goals. His theories are based on the principles: "A team is a state of mind" and "The team is the only tool for a club and people are its main raw material". With these two laws he explains how sport leaders are able to generate a climate of commitment.

Valdano has been coach and player in several elite teams on two continents, such as Real Madrid CF (awarded as Best Team of the Century for the International Federation of Football Association), where he won two Spanish Leagues (he won another one more as head coach of Real Madrid CF) and two UEFA Cups. He also played with the Argentina national team, winning a World Championship in Mexico's World Cup 1986.

At Real Madrid CF he has served as Director General on two periods. In this club, he established a new organizational and management system. He has also served as CEO of the Escuela de Estudios Universitarios, an institution specialized in higher education founded by an agreement between Real Madrid CF and the Universidad Europea de Madrid.

Valdano also appears frequently in several media such as Cadena SER, Spain's premier radio network.
