Joseph Altuzarra, a renowned name in the luxury women's ready-to-wear clothing industry, embarked on his fashion journey in 2008 when he launched his own brand, Altuzarra, in New York. The brand is a reflection of his multicultural upbringing and international education in fashion. The designer has an impressive portfolio, with one of his women's evening gown designs gracing the runway of the esteemed 2019 Met Gala, worn by comedian Awkwafina.

Altuzarra's prowess as a designer extends beyond creating stunning pieces for his own brand. He was a judge in the inaugural season of Amazon's "Making the Cut," further demonstrating his expertise in the industry. His achievements have not gone unnoticed. He has been the recipient of several awards including the CFDA Award, Crain's New York Business 40 Under 40, and the CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear Design.

His brand, Altuzarra, has seen collaborations with various leading companies such as Target, J.Crew, West Elm, Keds, Etsy, Castaner, LAY LO Pets, and the estate of photographer Alvin Baltrop. Recently, Altuzarra was nominated for the CFDA's 2023 American Womenswear Designer of the Year.

Altuzarra was born in Paris to a Chinese-American mother and French Basque father, his diverse heritage is something that he continually draws inspiration from. Growing up he studied ballet for 8 years. He attended Swarthmore College and graduated with a B.A. in Art and Art History. He currently resides in NYC with his husband Seth and their daughter Emma.
