Joseph Redmon is a freelance programmer, computer scientist, and data analyst.

Redmon attended Middlebury College where he studied Computer Science and Mathematics. At Middlebury, he worked as a tutor in the Computer Science department. While in college, Redmon worked for the National Institute of Standards and Technology, where he developed an online tool for analyzing thermal neutron triple-axis spectrometry data. As well, he completed an Extreme Blue internship at the Almaden Research Center with IBM, developing online shopping technology. After graduating, Redmon worked for the start-up ZeroCater.

Redmon is a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at the University of Washington. He is a freelancer and working on a variety of projects including the YOLO (You Only Look Once) algorithm, which has a simple goal: to deliver image recognition and object detection at an advanced speed. The algorithm uses Convolutional Deep Neural Networks to crunch object detection in real-time.
