Josh is CEO of the Virgin Group, based in Geneva. Virgin Group’s principal activities are management, development and licensing of the Virgin brand globally, management of direct investments on behalf of the Branson family in various branded and unbranded companies around the world, and the incubation and development of new businesses. The Group also funds the operations of its foundation, Virgin Unite.

Virgin’s branded businesses operate in five consumer-facing industries: Travel & Transportation, Telecoms & Media, Leisure & Entertainment, Financial Services and Health & Wellness. Josh has experience as a director in each of these industries, as well as acting on a variety of holding company boards and chairing the Group’s investment committee.

During Josh’s tenure as CEO the Group has extended its branded investments into the Hotels and Cruise industries, and its non-branded investment portfolio into technology and space-related businesses.

Josh joined the Group in London in 2005, becoming the Group’s first General Counsel. In 2009 his efforts were recognised when he was named General Counsel of the Year at the British Legal Awards.

Following his move to Geneva in 2010 to become more involved in the strategic management of the Group, Josh was named CEO in 2011.

Josh was born in New Zealand, and holds both NZ and British citizenship. He is married with two children. His interests include cycling, skiing, wine, and reading.
