Comedian, Actress, Co-host of "The View", Author

Joy Behar is a noted American comedian, actress, talk show host, and writer. She holds an M.A. in English education from S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook and initially began her career as a high school English teacher before transitioning into comedy. Behar performed at iconic New York clubs such as Caroline's and Catch a Rising Star, eventually making her way into television. At the age of 44, she began appearing on TV and shortly thereafter acquired her own show titled "Way Off Broadway." Over the years, she has appeared in various TV series, films, and on Broadway.

Behar became widely recognized in 1997 when she began co-hosting "The View," a role she continues to fulfill. "The View" has been the highest-rated show in its time slot on ABC since the 1993-94 season and has won 16 Daytime Emmy Awards overall, including the 2003 award for "Outstanding Talk Show." Her television career also includes hosting several talk shows such as "The Joy Behar Show," "Joy Behar: Say Anything!" and the 2015 series "Late Night Joy" on TLC.

In addition to her television work, Behar has published books including "Joy Schtick" and "When You Need a Lift: But Don’t Want to Eat Chocolate, Pay a Shrink, or Drink a Bottle of Gin.” She has also been recognized for her comedic talent with three MAC awards and a CableACE Award. Her other notable appearances include being a frequent panelist on "Politically Incorrect," a correspondent for Comedy Central at the Democratic National Convention, and roles in films such as "Cookie" and "Manhattan Murder Mystery." Behar's influence extends to radio as well, where she hosted a popular call-in show on WABC, blending politics with humor.
