Jrue Holiday
Professional Basketball Player for the Boston Celtics, Two-Time NBA Champion & Two-Time Olympic Gold Medalist
Jrue Holiday is a professional basketball player who has played for teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans, Milwaukee Bucks, and currently, the Boston Celtics. Holiday started his NBA career with the 76ers after being picked in the first round of the 2009 NBA draft, following a notable season with the UCLA Bruins. Over the years, he transferred to the New Orleans Pelicans, then to the Milwaukee Bucks where he won his first NBA championship in 2021, and now plays for the Boston Celtics, with whom he won his second championship in 2024.
Throughout his career, Holiday has received several accolades for his performance on the court. He has been named an NBA All-Star twice, once in 2013, and again in 2023. Additionally, Holiday's defensive skills have earned him six inclusions in the NBA All-Defensive Team - three times in the First Team (2018, 2021, and 2023) and three times in the Second Team (2019, 2022, and 2024). In the 2022-23 season, Holiday achieved a career-high by scoring 51 points in a game against the Indiana Pacers.
His contribution to the U.S. national team has also been significant, having won gold medals with the team in the 2020 and 2024 Olympics. Besides his performance on the court, Holiday's sportsmanship and camaraderie have earned him recognition. He has received the NBA Sportsmanship Award and has been named NBA Teammate of the Year three times (2020, 2022, and 2023).
Holiday's family also has strong ties to basketball, with his brothers, Justin and Aaron, also playing in the NBA. They made history in December 2019 as the first trio of brothers to share an NBA court simultaneously. His wife, Lauren Cheney, is a renowned athlete herself, serving as a midfielder for the United States women's national soccer team. Off the court, Holiday is known for his faith in Christianity, which provides a sense of peace and balance in his personal life.
