Juan Carlos Gonzalez is the vice president for foreign investment at Proexport, a national entity that promotes foreign direct investment, exports and international tourism in Colombia. Proexport has supported more than 300 FDI projects with estimated investments surpassing US$9 billion since 2007. Before joining the organization, Gonzalez was the economic and trade attache at the Colombian Embassy in Japan, vice president at Invest in Colombia Corp. (Coinvertir), director of international affairs at the National Directorate of Taxes and Customs and advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has studied and worked in Colombia, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Spain and Australia. A graduate of the University of the Andes in Bogota, he holds a master's degree in international studies from the University of Washington and an M.B.A. from the Melbourne Business School at the University of Melbourne. He was a Fulbright scholar in the U.S. and a scholarship recipient of the Melbourne Business School Foundation.
