Judith Light is known for her substantial contributions to television, film, and stage performances. She starred in Ryan Murphy's Netflix series "The Politician," alongside Bette Midler, Ben Platt, and Gwyneth Paltrow, the horror comedy series "Shining Vale," and the HBO Max series "Julia." Light's prior role in "Transparent," Amazon Prime's Golden Globe-winning series, earned her a Golden Globe nomination as well as multiple Emmy and Critics' Choice nominations. In addition, her performance in Ryan Murphy's Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series, "The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story," led to an Emmy and Critics Choice nomination in 2018.

Light has a diverse range of television roles. Globally recognized for her roles as Angela Bower in "Who’s The Boss" and Claire Meade in ABC's comedy series "Ugly Betty," she received an Emmy nomination for the latter. She had a recurring role as Elizabeth Donnelly on "Law and Order: SVU," appeared in "Dallas," and starred in "Queen America." Her career began with a breakthrough role in "One Life to Live," for which she won two consecutive Daytime Emmy Awards. Light also landed a villainous role as Judith Brown Ryland in the TNT drama series "Dallas" from 2013 to 2014.

In addition to her television work, Light has also thrived in the sphere of film. She recently starred alongside Alec Baldwin and Mandy Patinkin in "Before You Know It." Light also produced and starred in "Save Me," a film written by her husband, Robert Desiderio, which premiered at Sundance in 2007. Other film performances include "Ira and Abby," "Last Weekend," and "We'll Never Have Paris." Latest additions to her film roster include "Tick, Tick... Boom!" and the "The Menu," "Down Low," and "The Young Wife."

Light's theatre career has been equally illustrious. She has won two consecutive Tony and Drama Desk awards for her performances in "Other Desert Cities" and "The Assembled Parties." Her performance in "Thérèse Raquin" earned her an Outer Critics Circle Award and she received a Tony nomination for her role as Marie Lombardi in "Lombardi." Light was honored with the 2019 Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award for her extensive philanthropy work.

Light is not only known for her acting prowess but also for her advocacy work. She is an ardent advocate for ending HIV/AIDS and a champion for LGBTQIA+ and human rights. Light actively supports organizations such as Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids and serves on the Board of Directors for the MCC Theatre in New York City.
