Justin Singleton

MA in Biblical Cultural Settings; Instructor, Speaker, War Veteran

War veteran, archaeologist, teacher, father of five: all of this speaks of adventure. Raised in the Cincinnati, OH area, Justin always new that "war" would be a part of his life. Of course, back then it was a backyard war with sticks and mud, toys, and maybe the occasional fire cracker.

At the age of 19, Justin joined the Ohio Army National Guard and was married shortly afterward. After giving his life to Christ, Justin and his new wife decided that Bible college was the best option for academics. Life, children, and then a deployment to Iraq extended that four year degree to seven, but eventually, in the spring of 2007, Justin earned a BA in Ministerial Education emphasizing in biblical linguistics and biblical history.

The deployment that interrupted his education was a deployment to Iraq with the 34th Infantry Division (2006). Serving as an infantryman in a reconnaissance platoon in the Anbar province, SGT Singleton earned the Combat Infantryman Badge - a combat service recognition decoration awarded to soldiers who personally fought in active ground combat while an assigned member of an infantry unit. While deployed, SGT Singleton spoke at religious (chapel) services and as a trained member of the combat stress team on the topic of overcoming personal stress in a combat environment.

After graduation from college, Mr. Singleton took a position teaching high school English (all those years of linguistics paid off!), but only for one year. After he began work toward a Master's degree, Mr. Singleton took a position as a college English Instructor, teaching analytical and critical writing, as well as public speaking.

During this time, Justin became the interim pastor of a local church (one year) until a regular pastor was found. His other ministries (online web ministry, podcasting, hosting an internet talk radio show, and now hosting a seven minute segment on Powerline Kingdom heard on FM910 in Roanoke, VA) developed over several years.

In May of 2012, Justin Singleton received an MAR in Biblical Cultural Settings and became a speaking member of the Associates for Biblical Research. While training, Justin became the president of Eta Beta Rho, a Hebrew honors society on campus - showing not only his speaking abilities but also knowledge of his field. As a part of this degree, Justin spent six weeks at Tall Jalul, Jordan as a square supervisor at an archaeological dig. This supervisory experience added hands-on training to the book, academic knowledge from seminary.

Speaking engagements have ranged from military training situations (as a non-commissioned officer), ministerial preaching, college chapel engagements, radio, academic teaching, and guest speaking as the president of Eta Beta Rho, a Hebrew honors society.

Justin currently teaches online courses (Archaeology and the Bible, Analytical Writing, Critical Writing) at God's Bible School and College in their distance education department. Beginning fall 2012, Justin will also teach Comp and Ancient Literature and Rhetoric & Lit. Analysis II for Providence Extension Program.
