EU Commissioner for Energy

Kadri Simson is an Estonian politician who was appointed European Commissioner for Energy in 2019, where she holds responsibility for the European Union's energy policy as well as nuclear issues.

Simson has been a prominent figure in Estonian politics, holding various positions within the government since the late 1990s. She served as the Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure, where she oversaw economic policies, energy, transport, and infrastructure development in the country. Before her ministerial role, Simson also served as a Member of the Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu).

Her political journey has been marked by a commitment to addressing the economic challenges facing Estonia and contributing to the country's development. Simson has been known for her advocacy in the fields of sustainable development, energy efficiency, and renewable energy. She has actively worked towards reducing Estonia's reliance on fossil fuels and promoting environmentally friendly policies.

She acquired a degree in History at the University of Tartu and a Master’s degree in Political Science.
