Kambri Crews

Storyteller, Producer, and Celebrated Author of "Burn Down the Ground"

Kambri Crews' journey from a tin shack in Montgomery, Texas, to the center of New York's comedy scene is a wild ride you won't want to miss.

Crews shares her story of overcoming poverty, violence and near-crippling adversity in her newly published memoir, Burn the Ground Down. This much-anticipated entry to the genre evokes the emotional intensity and storytelling tradition of Jeannette Walls' The Glass Castle, promising to bring Crews' brutal honesty and fearless humor to a new audience of eager fans. Her motto and guiding philosophy "Life's Tough, Laugh More," is a message that inspires universally and one that will resonate with audiences everywhere.

From humble beginnings as the daughter of hard-working, resourceful and determined deaf parents in rural Texas, Kambri Crews has become a major force in comedy production and PR in New York City. In 2004, she started Ballyhoo Productions, whose focus on comedy and theater allowed her to work with comedy personalities like Richard Lewis, Janeane Garofalo, Roseanne Barr, and Craig Ferguson among countless others. As co-producer of the ECNY Awards, Crews also produces dozens of shows each year featuring comedians and writers from The Onion, The Daily Show, Saturday Night Live, you name it. Crews has been a performer and storyteller for years, delighting audiences with her wit and wisdom at The Moth's Mainstage, The 92Y, UCB Theatre, Gotham Comedy Club, SXSW, DeafHope, and many other venues and events.
