Stratfor Vice President of South Asia, Speaks on International Affairs, Middle East.

Kamran Bokhari is the Toronto-based Vice-President of Middle Eastern & South Asian Affairs with STRATFOR, a global intelligence company headquartered in Austin, Texas. Bokhari is also a Fellow with the Detroit, MI based think tank, Institute for Social Policy & Understanding (ISPU). He is also a senior consultant to the World Bank and is also pursuing a doctorate in political science. His areas of specialization include (but are not limited to) international affairs, security, counter-terrorism, comparative political systems, Islam and democracy, modern Muslim political thought, and Islamist movements. He has also presented research papers in many international academic and policy forums and has given briefings to various U.S. and Canadian government departments. Bokhari has published numerous analytical, scholarly, and theoretical articles related to geopolitics of the Islamic world.

He is also the author of a forthcoming book on radical/militant Islamist political thought, Voices of Jihad: New Writings on Radical Islam to be published in 2013. Bokhari is also the lead co-author of a 2nd book, The Complexity of Political Islam in the Context of Democratization to be published in 2014. He has also contributed chapters to a number of co-edited volumes.

In his tenth year with STRATFOR, Bokhari continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing the firm’s intellectual capital on a diverse array of geographical areas: Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel/Palestinian Territories, Syria/Lebanon, GCC, and North African states, etc. He has been behind the creation of a system to help understand Islamism and jihadism. As the company's lead analyst for the Middle East & South Asia he oversees its analytical out on the world's most volatile region.
