Karen Howells is the President and Founder of The Howells Group, Inc., a growing and innovative U.S.-based organizational development consulting practice. The Howells Group helps current and emerging leaders in a variety of businesses learn new skills, see new possibilities and gain broader perspectives through executive coaching, team development and breakthrough strategic counsel.
Karen has worked as an executive coach as well as a leadership, teamwork and organization development specialist for companies large and small around the world for more that 20 years. Karen is also a highly respected and seasoned keynote speaker and meeting facilitator. She creates and leads management and leadership development programs for groups from 5 to 500 and speaks frequently before business and non-profit groups around the nation.
Clients, primarily senior and executive-level managers and decision-makers, describe Karen as “insightful; thoughtful, but direct; uniquely intuitive; and possessed of a gift for cutting to the heart of those issues that keep people from being their best.” Other clients, veterans of many corporate business challenges, believe that Karen’s guidance has been the single most important factor in turning their businesses around. “Karen is that rare professional who has the experience to quickly find the root cause of pain in an organization and the wisdom to build a sound business and interpersonal solution to correct it,” said one CEO client.
A sampling of current and former clients include senior managers and executives at Nike, Intel Corporation, American Express, Freightliner, Cadence Design Systems, Hewlett Packard and many other Fortune 500 companies. Business owners at companies large and small. Senior executives at Fortune 50 companies. Sole practitioners. Business leaders from all over the world. These types of clients and many more have relied on Karen and members of her team to help them navigate through a wide variety of challenging leadership and “people” issues—issues that if addressed thoughtfully can make the difference between success, mediocrity or worse—failure.
