Karen M. Dale is Market President for AmeriHealth Caritas’ Medicaid managed care organization in Washington, D.C. as well as its Chief DEI Officer (CDEIO). As CDEIO, Dale leads the planning and implementation of diversity and inclusion strategies across the organization to link workforce, workplace, health equity, and supplier diversity with measurable business and cultural outcomes.

In multiple positions of leadership during the past two decades, Dale has addressed policies and other key factors impacting the delivery of health care services. Efforts include using digital tools in chronic disease management; outreach through community health workers; and programs addressing Black maternal health, racism, housing, transportation, violence interruption, and food insecurity. Her philosophy that health care must evolve into a health ecosystem that promotes wellness without barriers, starting where people are, has led to several collaborative relationships with providers, community partners, philanthropists, and businesses to implement sustainable, scalable solutions with high impact.

Prior to her position with AmeriHealth Caritas, Dale served as Executive Vice President of Health Care Management at DC Chartered Health Plan Inc. where she led strategic initiatives to address critical challenges faced by its members. She serves as a Board Member of Volunteers of America.
