Captain Karen M. Kahn has been actively involved in aviation for the past 29 years.

Captain Karen M. Kahn has been actively involved in aviation for the past 29 years. Holding all ratings through ATP, she was the first woman to be type rated in a Lockheed JetStar. Her other ratings include flight engineer, seaplane, glider and helicopter. She is an active instrument and multi-engine flight instructor. Karen is presently captain on the MD-80 for a major air carrier. During the last 19 years she’s flown the DC-10 and Boeing 727 on both international and domestic routes. Karen is a frequent speaker at pilot seminars and career workshops as well as contributor to Pilot’s Audio Update, a monthly aviation cassette series. She writes a monthly column for Flying Careers magazine and International Women Pilots magazine. Karen is at her best helping pilots improve their communications skills. She uses her in-depth knowledge of human resource management, both in and out of the cockpit, to assist pilots in achieving their career goals. Her engaging presentations are entertaining and filled with practical advice on how to survive and thrive both in and out of aviation. Karen’s topics include: My Story, Surviving in Aviation, Women’s Careers in Aviation and Succeed! or Just do It.
