Astronomer at the Institute for Astronomy at the University of Hawaii

Karen Meech is an American astronomer at the Institute for Astronomy in the University of Hawaii. She specializes in planetary astronomy. More specifically, she studies distant comets and their relation to the early solar system.

Meech founded Towards Planetary Systems (TOPS), which is a high-school level student/teacher outreach program that helps educate science teachers in the Pacific islands.

She graduated from Rice University and earned her Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
