Computer Scientist; Product Leader; AI at Workday, Product Management at Harvard Kennedy School

Kathy Pham, a computer scientist and artificial intelligence ethicist, has had a diverse career spanning some of the most influential organizations in the tech industry. This includes leadership roles at Google and IBM, as well as a tenure at the United States Digital Service at The White House. Pham's early career was marked with exceptional achievements, such as placing 1st in the Imagine Cup competition with a sentiment analysis engine, EmotionAI. She was also one of the youngest members to be inducted into the Georgia Tech Greek Hall of Fame in 2017.

Pham's experience extends beyond the corporate sphere, with significant contributions to academia and public service. As a Fellow and Faculty member at the Harvard Kennedy School, she teaches "Product Management and Society". Her commitment to ethical tech has led her to co-found the Ethical Tech Group at the Harvard Berkman Klein Center and the Mozilla Fix the Internet Incubator. She currently serves as the inaugural Executive Director of the National AI Advisory Committee (NAIAC) and as the Deputy Chief Technology Officer for Product and Engineering at the Federal Trade Commission.

Her passion for social impact has manifested in a number of initiatives. Pham has served as an advisory board member of the Anita Borg Institute and the Make the Breast Pump Not Suck Initiative, and created the Mary Hương Thị Phạm Endowment at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She has been recognized for her work with various accolades, such as the 2024 ABIE Technical Leadership Award and inclusion in Lighthouse3's 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics. Pham continues to shape the future of tech as the Workday Vice President of Artificial Intelligence and through her teaching at Harvard Kennedy School.
