Audio Storytelling & Podcast Lead at NASA

Katie Konans is NASA's Audio Storytelling Lead, tasked with sharing the agency's groundbreaking work with digital audio consumers worldwide. In her role, she manages five agency-original podcasts, including the flagship show "NASA's Curious Universe". Konans has led audio-first efforts tied to notable campaigns such as the Mars Perseverance Rover landing, James Webb Space Telescope launch and first image reveal, OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return, and the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing.

In 2023, she received the prestigious NASA Early Career Achievement Medal, recognizing her work in building NASA's audio program. She has also received a Webby Award in Science & Education Podcasting, as well as the Robert H. Goddard Award for her team's contributions to NASA's public engagement and communication. Konans is a member of the Forbes 30 Under 30 class of 2024 in Media, recognized for "revolutionizing NASA's digital strategy through her work in audio communication."

Konans graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. While in college, she began working at NASA as an intern and continued to freelance for the space agency during her senior year. She joined NASA full time in 2019 at the Goddard Space Flight Center.
