Katie L. Greer

Internet Safety Consultant

In February of 2005, Katie L. Greer began developing an Internet safety program to deliver to Massachusetts students. The Corruption, Fraud and Computer Crime Division of the Attorney General’s Office was inundated with requests for Internet safety presentations, and Katie rose to the challenge of expanding the existing program she pioneered. After leaving the Attorney General’s Office, Katie worked full time as an Intelligence Analyst for the Massachusetts State Police, where she was assigned to the Missing Children Clearinghouse and subsequently became the Outreach Coordinator for the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Concurrently, and in large part due to the increasing demands for technology/Internet safety education, Katie expanded her programs and created KL Greer Consulting. Katie's programs are designed to educate students spanning grades K-12 and college, and are thoughtfully tailored to accommodate the developmental and emotional differences in each age group. Additionally, Katie instructs parents, teachers, administrators, and law enforcement officials on Internet Safety and a variety of other issues pertaining to technology safety and responsibility.

Today, Katie continues to travel the United States and Canada delivering her dynamic and ever-changing programs. Katie has contracted with a variety of organizations (government and private), lending her expertise and providing keynote addresses on issues pertaining to digital/Internet safety. Katie was named as an Advisory Board Member for The Internet Keep Safe Coalition (iKeepSafe), a nonprofit international alliance of policy leaders, educators, law enforcement members, technology experts, public health experts and advocates working together to create a safe and positive online experience for youths. She frequently contracts with Fortune 500 companies offering educational workshops, trainings and consultations.

Katie's unique personal, professional, and educational background has led Katie to frequently serve as an industry expert to various media outlets. Katie has been featured in USA Today, TIME Magazine, Good Housekeeping, NBC News, Proctor and Gamble Everyday, on The O’Reilly Factor, The Meredith Vieira Show, Inside Edition, CNN, The Daily Mail and AJAM.

Katie obtained her Masters degree in Criminal Justice from Salem State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. In 2018, Katie was the first female to be awarded the Distinguished Alumna Award from Salem State University. As an undergraduate student, Katie graduated early from the Salem State University Honors Program Summa Cum Laude in May of 2004 (in 2.5 years), with a focus on Early Childhood Education, a B.S. in Sociology, and a Minor in Psychology. She is a member of the National Criminal Justice Honors Society, the National Sociological Honors Society, and graduated from the Salem State University Leadership Institute. Katie is currently pursuing her PhD in Criminology with a focus on tween and teen online socialization.
