Katrina Alcorn is General Manager of Design at IBM where she is responsible for leading one of the largest design practices in the world. IBM’s 3,000+ designers create software, hardware, brand, and web experiences enjoyed by millions worldwide. Alcorn’s team is also responsible for IBM’s enterprise design thinking practice which has trained close to 400,000 people inside and outside IBM and is considered the industry gold standard in driving innovation through human-centered design practices.

Before joining IBM in 2021, Alcorn spent 20 years leading strategic design initiatives for Fortune 500s, startups, and non-profits in a variety of industries including high-tech, energy, and health care. She is also the author of an award-winning book, “Maxed Out: American Moms on the Brink,” about the challenges mothers face in the workplace, and she’s a vocal advocate for creating workplace culture that supports the reality of modern-day families. Alcorn has spoken at dozens of conferences and corporate events including TEDx Monterey on a wide range of topics related to design and women in leadership.
