Inventor, Founder, CEO at Fenugreen FreshPaper

Kavita is the Founder & CEO of Fenugreen, a social enterprise taking on the massive global challenge of food waste with a simple innovation, FreshPaper. Kavita holds four patents, and has received several international honors as an inventor, designer, and entrepreneur, including the INDEX: Design to Improve Life Award – the world’s largest prize for design. She has also been recognized by the Lemelson-MIT Foundation, the Cartier Women’s Initiative, Echoing Green, the Social Venture Network, Sustainable Brands, the Davidson Institute, the Swiss Consulate, the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and the British Consulate. Kavita has been inducted into the National Gallery for America’s Young Inventors and was a First Place Winner at the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair for her initial research on FreshPaper.

Since launching at a Cambridge, MA farmer's market, FreshPaper has spread to farmers and families worldwide, and retailers including Whole Foods Market and Ahold stores. As she has led FreshPaper’s remarkable grassroots growth, Kavita has spoken about the power of simple innovation to audiences around the world. She has given keynotes at the Harvard Social Enterprise Conference and the Cartier & McKinsey Women’s Initiative Forum in Tokyo, and spoken at the WTO in Geneva, the NYSE, TEDxManhattan, the Harvard Women’s Leadership Conference, the Women’s Forum in Deauville, and the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in the UK.

Last year, Kavita was a featured speaker at the Women in the World Summit at the Lincoln Center along with Hilary Clinton, Angelina Jolie, Meryl Streep, and Oprah Winfrey. Kavita’s work on FreshPaper, and her quest to take on global food waste, has been featured by CNN, The New York Times, Forbes, The Washington Post, The Economist, The Financial Times, Bloomberg, Newsweek, The Guardian, Oprah Magazine, Glamour, and The Today Show. Kavita was also recently featured as one of the "7 Entrepreneurs Changing the World" by Fast Company and on the 2014 Forbes “30 under 30” list.

Fenugreen has been recognized as the “most innovative young company in the world” by the Kauffman Foundation’s Startup Open, awarded by Sir Richard Branson. Fenugreen's mission is to improve access to fresh, healthy food, and boost the lives of farmers and communities worldwide - "Fresh for All.”

Kavita holds a BA from Harvard University.
