Kayce Freed Jennings is co-founder and executive vice president of The Documentary Group, an independent production company. Formerly married to the late journalist Peter Jennings, she is also a coeditor of the recently published biography Peter Jennings: A Reporter’s Life.

The Documentary Group produced Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience, which was nominated for a 2008 Academy Award. In addition, The Documentary Group produced STEEP, a theatrical documentary about big mountain skiing and To Iraq & Back: Bob Woodruff Reports, the film that chronicled the ABC anchor’s recovery from a near fatal traumatic brain injury caused by a roadside bomb in Iraq and the failure of the Veterans Administration to provide adequate treatment for soldiers returning with similar injuries.

Before founding The Documentary Group, Jennings was vice president of PJ Productions, and senior producer of films that include State of the Union and the Peabody Award winning Out of Control: AIDS in Black America.

Jennings began her career at ABC News in London, where as a producer for Nightline, she covered Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She relocated to ABC News’ Atlanta Bureau, where she concentrated on the southern United States, the Caribbean, Latin America and national politics. When World News Tonight with Peter Jennings launched its groundbreaking series "The American Agenda," Kayce was one of its pioneering producers, focusing on social policy issues.

With deep connections to the nonprofit world, Jennings has worked with The Coalition for the Homeless, Teach for America, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Veritas Therapeutic Community, among other organizations. She serves on the board of directors of Women In Need, Inc., and The Peter Jennings Project for Journalists and the Constitution at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
