Kaylee Hartung is an adjunct fellow at CSIS, serving as an on-camera personality for multimedia pieces on CSIS.org and on iTunes U. She is also one of the new wave of journalists at CBS News who produces, photographs and edits her own reports. As a correspondent for CBSNews.com she created a new beat for the network’s daily webcast “Washington Unplugged.” Each week Kaylee seeks out a young professional who is making a mark in Washington and profiles them for her series “Unplugged Under 40.” She has interviewed everyone from members of Congress and White House officials to reality TV stars and professional athletes.
In the fall of 2010 Kaylee took on an additional assignment within the CBS Corporation. She joined CBS College Sports Network as a sideline reporter for the cable channel’s football coverage. She will also serve as the social media correspondent for the 2011 NCAA basketball tournament coverage on “March Madness on Demand” – CBS and Turner Sports’ joint venture in partnership with the NCAA to live stream all tournament games online.
Kaylee first joined CBS as the assistant to Bob Schieffer, the veteran journalist and moderator of “Face the Nation.” She soon became an associate producer on the broadcast where she is responsible for all research. During the 2008 campaign she traveled with Schieffer to the major primary states, both national conventions and conducted all of the research when Schieffer moderated the final debate between John McCain and Barack Obama.
Kaylee is a graduate of Washington and Lee University where she majored in broadcast journalism and politics. She is a native of Baton Rouge, LA.
