Keith Boykin is a New York Times best-selling author of several notable books. His recent works include "Race Against Time: The Politics of a Darkening America" (2021), "Quitting: Why I Left My Job to Live a Life of Freedom" (2022), and the forthcoming "Why Does Everything Have to Be About Race?" (2024).
A seasoned academic, Boykin has enriched students at American University in Washington, D.C., the Institute for Research in African-American Studies at Columbia University, and City College of New York. He served as a White House aide to President Bill Clinton and has made significant contributions as a leading TV commentator on politics, race, and sexual orientation.
Boykin's impact extends beyond academia and media. He is a co-founder and first board president of the National Black Justice Coalition and has been recognized with a Lambda Literary Award. His media roles have been diverse, including co-hosting the BET talk show "My Two Cents," starring in the Showtime reality TV series "American Candidate," and serving as an associate producer for the film "Dirty Laundry." Furthermore, Boykin has been featured in media productions like BET’s "Being Mary Jane" and was the featured male model in the 2022 Ralph Lauren "Pride" campaign. He continues to engage audiences with his nationally syndicated column and the online video series "Black Vote, Black Power" for Word In Black news.
Boykin's life experiences are as vast as his professional pursuits; he has lived in 12 cities and visited 48 of the 50 United States. Currently residing in Los Angeles, his journey reflects a commitment to activism, education, and media, shaping public discourse around critical societal issues.
