Activist & President of the Human Rights Campaign; Former Associate Director for Youth Engagement & Executive Director of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund

Kelley Robinson, a University of Missouri-Columbia graduate with a double major in sociology and women's and gender studies, began her career in the political sphere during Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. Her early experience laid the groundwork for her leadership roles in various organizations, including an important stint as the associate director for youth engagement for Planned Parenthood Federation of America from 2011 to 2015. Her leadership journey continued as she took on the role of executive director of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund and vice president of organizing and advocacy in 2019, where she directed efforts pivotal to the flip of the U.S. Senate in the 2020 elections.

In late 2022, Robinson ascended to the presidency of the Human Rights Campaign, making history as the first queer Black woman to lead the organization. Her leadership has been characterized by a commitment to various social issues, including voting rights, reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, living wages, and healthcare. Notably, she has made it a point to prioritize the voices and concerns of impoverished communities. Robinson's leadership skills have been recognized on a global scale, and in 2024, she was included in the Time 100 list of the most influential people of the year.

Robinson's ability to mobilize advocates and activists into action is a testament to her skill in building coalitions across all intersections. This skill has been instrumental in igniting innovative campaigns that uplift marginalized communities. A testament to her influence and expertise, Robinson has been invited to speak before Congress on the rise of anti-LGBTQ+ extremism and violence and at political rallies, demonstrating her capacity to advocate for freedom and equality on various platforms. She continues to bring attention to intersectional work on various issues, underpinning her reputation as a champion for freedom and equality for all.
