Writer, Diabetes Advocate

Kelly Close is a writer, speaker, and diabetes advocate. Close was diagnosed with with type 1 diabetes when she was 18 years old. In 2002, she founded Close Concerns, which helps raise awareness about diabetes. She is the Editor in Chief of the organizations two newsletters, Diabetes Close Up and diaTribe. Close has also contributed to About.com's diabetes site.

In 2012, Close received the Excellence in Health Communications award the American Diabetes Association. She is on the board of directors of the Diabetes Hands Foundation and the Behavioral Diabetes Institute, and is a member of the Healthcare Council of GLG Research.

Close graduated from Amherst College and received her M.B.A from Harvard Business School.
