Kenan Thompson
Prime Time Emmy Award-Nominated Actor; "Saturday Night Live" Cast Member; Star on NBC's "Kenan"
Kenan Thompson is an actor and comedian best known for his role as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, Keenan & Kell, and All That.
His first foray into acting came at a young age when he joined a TBS crew as a movie critic for a kids news show called Movies for Kids. It was during this show that he reviewed the movie Mighty Ducks and got to meet some of the stars who played parts in that movie. He was pursued by their people in an attempt to include him in Mighty Ducks 2, which he later won a role in.
His first television gig came in 1994 with the highly popular kids show on Nickelodeon, All That. He followed this up with another highly successful show on the same network titled Kenan and Kel. From 1994-2000 Thompson was an integral part of Nickelodeon's two highest rated shows. He won a Kids Choice Award in 1998-99 for his continued success on both shows.
His first movie role came in 1994 in Mighty Ducks 2, followed by Heavyweights in '95, Mighty Ducks 3 in '96, GoodBurger in 1997, Rocky and Bullwinkle in 2000, Love Don't Cost a Thing in 2003, Barbershop 2 in 2004, the lead role in Fat Albert in 2004 and Snakes on a Plane in 2006.
Thompson is a judge in NBC's comedy competition series, Bring the Funny. His fellows judges are Chrissy Teigen and Jeff Foxworthy.
Thompson currently stars as a member of the Saturday Night Live crew, of which he's been a member since 2003. Thompson also had guest appearances on such TV shows as Felicity, The Steve Harvey Show and Sister Sister. While the majority of Thompson's experience has been in comedy, he entered the business with a solid background in musicals.
In 2020, he became the spokesman for Universal Parks & Resorts’ "Let Yourself Woah" campaign, and was set to host the 2020 White House Correspondents' Dinner before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Thompson's namesake show, Kenan, premiered on NBC. He would also be named host of that year's Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.
