Vice President, Movers and Shakespeares

Ken Adelman is Vice President of Movers & Shakespeares. He began teaching Shakespeare in 1977 at Georgetown University, and taught honors students at George Washington University for years. He was a U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and Director of the U.S. Arms Control & Disarmament Agency during the Reagan administration, accompanying President Reagan on his superpower summits with Soviet General Secretary Gorbachev.

Ambassador Adelman began government service in 1969, and served as an Assistant to the Secretary of Defense in the mid-1970s and on the Defense Policy Board from 2001 to 2006. He was national editor of Washingtonian magazine for twenty years.

Adelman graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa, and received a Master's and Doctorate from Georgetown University. He wrote hundreds of articles and is the author (or co-author) of five books, including "Shakespeare in Charge: The Bard's Guide to Leading and Succeeding on the Business Stage."

Adelman translated for Mohammed Ali in the weeks around the 1974 "Rumble in the Jungle" heavyweight championship fight in Africa. He participated in the Zaire River Expedition in 1975, venturing down the Congo River on the 100th Anniversary of Stanley’s legendary exploration.
