Ken Chenault is the chairman and a managing director of the venture capital firm General Catalyst. From 2001 to 2018, he was chairman and CEO of American Express. Chenault co-founded OneTen, working to upskill, hire, and advance one million Black Americans over ten years into family-sustaining jobs with advancement opportunities.

An expert on brands and brand management, he was named to Fortune’s World’s 50 Greatest Leaders list in 2014 and 2021. Chenault serves on the boards of Airbnb, Berkshire Hathaway, Chief, Guild Education, and the Harvard Corporation, as well as on nonprofit boards including the Smithsonian Institution Advisory Council for the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the National September 11 Memorial and Museum board.
