WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE MUSIC BUSINESS

What were this year’s: Highlights? Pros & Cons? Highlights:

  • Digital sales are up 7% this year.
  • Music sales is up 2.1% as a whole in 2022
  • Sound Exchange continues to grow in its fight to ensure that artist get paid for the product.
  • There has been an 8% growth in the music industry as a whole; which is the biggest growth since 1998.
  • But what would be the cause of skepticism?
  • The fact that music is evolving so quickly, it now has a feeling of getting too lost in the moment… and a moment that keeps evolving without any clear direction.

Pro:

  • As an independent artist there has never better a better time to get into the music business because distributing your own music has never been easier. The event held panel discussions on: streaming, subscription services (Spotify, Pandora, Youtube, Soundcloud, Apple, Tidal) and the accessibility of getting your music onto those platforms.

Con:

  • But being that one artist out of a million may not be easy. It’s a DIY business and the benefit of the seminar was that by the time you left the event, you left a little better off equipped to deal with the questionable music industry, than when you walked through New Yorker Wyndham Hotel’s revolving glass doors; no pun.

In A Country Where Young Boys Are Being Left Fatherless How Should Boys Now Be Raised to Become Men: Redefining Male Masculinity

  • Sexual Harassment: misogynistic representation is constant in the inner-city sometimes at home between a mom and her relationships with boyfriends can distort a young boy regarding his image of a man; young boys never imitate their mom and if a male role model is not present he will find one and its normally a negative image of a man because negative image is easier to emulate.
  • Drug Culture: Hip Hop music promotes drug culture, urban television promotes this as well and all throughout the media; but why the media can’t be silenced for the negative influence is what escapes me.
  • Gang Culture: Boys need to bond with other likeminded boys but when a father figure fails to materialize at home boys other option becomes to join the local gang.
  • Homo-Phobia: Understanding it is ok for men to bond and it doesn’t have to be because two men gay; boys can love his fellow male friends without being gay.
  • Hip Hop: Guns, Violence, Rape, Promiscuity, Drugs; wage a war against media that promotes this violent angry ignorant culture.

Heartbreaks

One of the greatest heartbreaks of humanity is to lose a child, and for that reason most parents would travel to the ends of the universe to safeguard and protect their children against any and all of the ills of humanity; which in some rare cases might unfortunately be caused by nature; but if parents had the ability to end their children’s suffering, ensure that their child has the ability to live his or her best life and be able to thrive in the same way any healthy person has the ability to thrive and not suffer, without thinking twice any parent would. If a mother could undue an inherent illness that is crippling her baby, she would give her own life if given a option, but when the only option given is Gene Therapy, would it be a panacea or would it be an abomination?
