Kevin McDowell is an American professional triathlete who made his Olympic debut in Tokyo, earning a noteworthy sixth place in the men's triathlon—the highest-ever finish for a U.S. male triathlete in the Olympic Games. In addition to his individual accomplishments, he contributed the fastest split to the U.S. team's silver medal win in the Mixed Relay.

McDowell's successful participation in the 2020 Summer Olympics came ten years after he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2011. Despite this challenge early in his career, McDowell showcased his resilience and determination by battling his way back to elite competition and the podium. His recovery journey is marked by seven World Triathlon Cup medals and the 2017 USA Elite National Championship title.

Before his Olympic debut, McDowell was a seasoned competitor. He was the 2010 Youth Olympic Games silver medalist and the 2010 ITU Junior World Championships bronze medalist. Born in Park Ridge, Illinois, and raised in nearby Mount Prospect, he now resides and trains in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
