Kevin Ryan
Currently stars on the BBC TV Drama series "COPPER" created by Oscar winning Director Barrry Levinson ...
Award winning actor Kevin Ryan was born in Dublin, Ireland. His family are eighth-generation stonecutters, and although Kevin completed his apprenticeship as a young man, his own interests leaned more towards the arts, where he harbored a love of Shakespeare, professional dancing and active sports. During the early years of his entertainment career, Kevin worked as a professional dancer which led him to appear on one of Irelands top television shows, and while successful, Kevins true passion was in acting.
Encouraged to follow his thespian path, Kevin moved to Los Angeles, California where he continued to nurture his chosen craft, and trained heavily as a method actor through the Stanislavski system.
It was not long before Hollywood recognized Kevins natural talent and after several lead roles in a variety of independent movies, he was cast in his first major American role, as the lead in the thriller Tripping Tommy directed by Award Winning Director Philippe Caland (Boxing Helena, Ripple Effect). The feature film, which is set for release later in 2012, is mainly based on improvisation and required Kevin to give his performance with a flawless American accent. His latest feature film is the edgy Irish darly comedic love story Songs for Amy which he plays one of the leads as an international pop-star. The movie, currently in post-production, was filmed in New York and Ireland, and also stars James Cosmo (Braveheart, Trainspotting) and Patrick Bergin (Patriot Games, Sleeping with the Enemy).
Hailed as Irelands newest emerging star, and voted one of Irelands sexiest Irish men for two consecutive years, Kevin can be presently seen starring in the top award winning RTE One TV drama Raw which began airing earlier this year. The show, now in its fourth season, is produced by Octagon Films (Leap Year, The Tudors, Camelot).
Currently Kevin is filming his latest lead role in Toronto, Canada for the highly anticipated BBC TV drama series Copper, created by Oscar winning Director Barry Levinson (Bugsy, Rain Man, Wag The Dog), multi Emmy winner Tom Fontana (Oz, Homicide: Life on the Streets, St. Elsewhere) and Academy Award nominee Will Rokos (Monsters Ball, Southland). The Irish actor plays Detective Francis Maguire alongside British actor Tom Weston-Jones (MI-5, aka Spooks) and is slated to premiere on BBC America in the summer of 2012 and in Canada on Shaw Medias Showcase in the fall, ahead of its global release.
