Chief Integrated Training Service UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations & Field Support

Kevin S. Kennedy* has served in the United Nations Secretariat in posts at Headquarters, in several field missions, and in London and Washington D. C.

Since joining the UN staff in 1977, Mr. Kennedy has carried out assignments in the Department of Public Information; the Department of Humanitarian Affairs; the Executive Office of the Secretary-General and the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO), where he led the Great Lakes Integrated Operational Team before joining the Division for Policy, Evaluation and Training as Chief of the Integrated Training Service, a shared service of the Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field support, in March 2011.

He has served in field missions in the DRC (MONUC), South Africa (UNOMSA) and as a member of the start-up team in Kosovo (UNMIK). As Chief of the Department of Public Information’s Peace and Security Section from 1995 to 2000, he worked closely with DPKO and the Departments of Political Affairs and Disarmament on media and communications campaigns, as well as participating in mission planning, technical assessment and lessons-learned exercises relating to peacekeeping and political missions in Burundi, Central African Republic, Haiti, East Timor and Western Sahara. He has also served as information officer at the United Nations Information Centres in London and in Washington D.C.
