Creative Mindset: Keeping The Enjoyment Alive

Positive psychology

Flow is “a subjective, mental state contributing to optimal experience, which is characterized by complete absorption in an activity, at a given moment in time” (Csikszentmihayli). From a theoretical perspective, flow consists of nine dimensions, conceived as constituents of the flow experience. The constructs of flow itself can perhaps act as a way to shape our practice. For example, balancing the skills of the dancer to the challenge of the tasks set can immediately foster a sense of capability and bring about enjoyment itself.

Set clear goals in class or rehearsal and create an environment for yourself that encourages growth, physiological safety and life/ work integration.
