Knicole Colón

Astronomer

Before arriving at the University of Florida, Knicole Coln received her B.S. degree in Physics, with a minor in Mathematics, from The College of New Jersey in 2007. She then received her M.S. degree in Astronomy under the supervision of Dr. Eric Ford at UF in 2009. SHE also received the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship in 2009.

Her research deals with the characterization of extrasolar planets via transit observations. Specifically, she is interested in using transit data to constrain the physical and orbital properties of known exoplanets. She is particularly interested in exoplanetary atmospheres and detecting spectral features with narrow-band photometry. Currently, Knicole is using the 10.4-meter Gran Telescopio Canarias to study several known transiting exoplanets.
