Kristen Bell is an actress celebrated for her versatile performances across television, film, and theater. She began her acting career by starring in stage productions while attending the Tisch School of the Arts in New York. In 2001, she made her Broadway debut as Becky Thatcher in "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and starred in the Broadway revival of "The Crucible" the following year.
Bell's breakout role came in 2004 when she starred as the title character in the critically acclaimed teen noir drama tv series "Veronica Mars." Her portrayal of the intelligent and tenacious teenage detective earned her widespread recognition and a loyal fan base. The show became a cult hit, and Bell's performance was praised for its depth and charm. She would later return to the role in a 2014 film and in a Kickstarter-backed fourth season in 2019.
On television, Bell has also starred as Elle Bishop in the superhero drama series "Heroes"; voiced the titular narrator in the teen drama series "Gossip Girl," reprising the role in the 2021 sequel; and starred as Jeannie van der Hooven, the female lead on the Showtime comedy series "House of Lies." For her lead role on the hit NBC series "The Good Place," she received a Golden Globe Award nomination for her portrayal of Eleanor Shellstrop, a woman navigating the afterlife in a unique blend of comedy and philosophical inquiry. Since then, Bell has portrayed the lead role in the streaming series "The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window" and starred in "Nobody Wants This," among other appearances.
Bell established herself in film as well, with memorable roles such as the titular character in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." She has since appeared in a number of comedy films, including "Couples Retreat," "When in Rome," "You Again," "The Boss," "Bad Moms," and "A Bad Moms Christmas." However, it was her voicework as Anna in Disney's animated film "Frozen" and its sequel that helped solidify her status as a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
Bell has been an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness and animal rights, using her platform to support various causes. She is married to actor Dax Shepard.
