Kurt A. Kondrich

Disability DADvocate for Down Syndrome Awareness & Retired Police Officer

Kurt’s beautiful daughter Chloe was born in 2003 with a diagnosis of Down syndrome, and her birth placed Kurt on an incredible journey. Kurt served as a Police Officer for 20 years and received many awards for service to the community. Shortly after Chloe’s birth Kurt learned that up to 90% of children diagnosed prenatally with Down syndrome were targeted and eliminated. Kurt left his career as a Pittsburgh Police Officer, and he focused on Chloe’s ABILITIES and being strong advocates for our most vulnerable children. Kurt’s son Nolan taught Chloe to read at age 3, and Chloe has had an amazing life in her community at age 15. Chloe’s picture has appeared 4 times on the big screen in Times Square as part of the National Down Syndrome Society’s video promoting ABILITIES, and Chloe is featured on and in the book “Brilliant Souls” which details stories about incredible people with Down syndrome.

The Kondrich Family has received several awards for advocacy efforts including the PA Pro-Life Federation Leadership Award, The St Anthony Award from the Diocese of Pittsburgh, and The Array of Hope St John Paul Threshold of Hope Award in New Jersey. Kurt spoke at the United Nations in 2017 and 2018 about the priceless gift of life and the silent genocide against children diagnosed prenatally with Down syndrome, and the Kondrichs met with the President and Vice President at the White House for the 2018 March for Life. Kurt’s advocacy efforts lead to the PA Legislature overwhelmingly passing the Down syndrome Prenatal Education Act (“Chloe’s Law”) in July 2014, and Chloe signed the law on the Governor’s desk. Kurt and Chloe have spoken several times at the PA Capitol and at college, church and community events. Kurt and Chloe recently appeared on NYC Cardinal Dolan’s International TV Show, and in May 2018 the Kondrich family received a prestigious award at The Good Counsel Homes Gala in NYC for their advocacy protecting unborn children. Kurt and his family feel very blessed that God uses them to serve and protect our most defenseless citizens, and one of their favorite Bible Verses is Proverbs 31:8 “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves”.
