Kutless

Christian Hard Rock Band Known for "Strong Tower" & "King of My Heart"

Kutless is a Christian alternative band specializing in melodic hard rock. The band, which has had numerous lineup changes, currently consists of Jon Micah Sumrall (lead vocals), James Mead (guitar, backing vocals), Neal Cameron (bass guitar), Nathan Parrish (guitar), and Matt Christopherson (drums).

The group came together in Portland, Oregon, in 1999, inspired by Christian rock predecessors such as the Supertones as well as mainstream rockers including Staind, Creed, and Incubus. All the founding members of Kutless attended the same church, Athey Creek, where they began playing music together. They soon decided to forego college and focus on their music career, moving into a group house where they hosted house shows in their basement. Their first album, the eponymous Kutless, appeared in 2002.

In 2017, Kutless released their tenth studio album, Alpha/Omega, which included a reworked version of "Strong Tower" as well as the single "King of My Heart."

Kutless has been nominated for many Gospel Music Association Dove Awards in categories including Group of the Year, Worship Song of the Year, and Rock Album of the Year.
