Kwanza Jones is a multifaceted entrepreneur, philanthropist, and artist known for her dynamic contributions to the fields of music, business, and social impact. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Jones has built a diverse career that spans several industries, consistently demonstrating her commitment to empowering others and driving positive change. An accomplished recording artist with multiple Billboard chart-topping hits, Jones started her singing career after performing and winning Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater while still in college at Princeton University. She has used her platform to advocate for social issues, emphasizing themes of empowerment, resilience, and self-confidence in her music. Whether recording music, producing motivational media through her company SUPERCHARGED® by Kwanza Jones, or sharing an action-inspiring message from the stage or in the boardroom, she amplifies voices that may otherwise not be heard.
Jones and her life and business partner founded the Kwanza Jones & José E. Feliciano Initiative, a philanthropic grant-making and investment organization. They have committed more than $200 million to nonprofits and for-profits, focusing on four pillars: education, entrepreneurship, equity, and empowerment. The couple also made the largest gift to date by Black and Latino donors to their alma mater Princeton University in the amount of $20 million.
Jones is a former Miss Baltimore. After graduating from Princeton, she earned her law degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and a Master of Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University School of Law. She has held leadership and advisory roles on boards including the Apollo Theater, Susan G. Komen, UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center, and Bennett College.
