Kyle Shanahan

Head Coach of the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League

Kyle Shanahan was named the 20th head coach of the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, after an impressive tenure as the offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons, where he led the offense to set franchise records in yards per game, points scored, net passing yards per game, and average yards per play.

Under Shanahan's stewardship, the 2019 49ers had a 13-3 regular season record and reached Super Bowl LIV. This remarkable season saw Shanahan being named the Coach of the Year by Sporting News and NFC Coach of the Year by the Committee of 101. The 2019 offense, led by QB Jimmy Garoppolo and TE George Kittle, ranked first in the NFL in rushing touchdowns and second in points per game and rushing yards per game. In 2020, despite the challenges, LB Fred Warner was named AP First-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection, and the 49ers defense ranked second in the NFL in total yards allowed per game.

In 2021, Shanahan led the 49ers to their second trip to the NFC Championship in three seasons, with the team's defense ranking third in the NFL in total yards allowed per game. In the same year, the 49ers offensive line had three Pro Bowl selections and WR Deebo Samuel earned Associated Press First-Team All-Pro honors. As of 2022, Shanahan has continued to build on his successes, signing a multi-year contract extension with the 49ers, leading the team to a 13-4 regular season record, an NFC West title, and a berth in the NFC Championship Game.
