Impacting Our Youth - Umbrella of Success

Lance S. Carl Bio Lance began his motivational speaking career in April of 2006 when he became Director of Student Motivation & Outreach for CollegeInColorado.org.
His presentation, The Umbrella of Success, was personally created to emphasize the impact that an education can have on the lives of our youth, regardless of their upbringing. Lance touches on 7 traits that successful people incorporate into their lives, traits that allow them to overcome obstacles, to recognize their talents/gifts and to recognize and maximize on the opportunity that education provides. Lance infuses his presentation with self-depracating humor combined with a dose of reality for students, gaining instant credibility with his audience. As a child of adoption, Lance shares his background with students and audiences, providing them with an overview of his personal battle with anger management, his trust issues with men and ultimately his decision to overcome adversity with a change in attitude and a change in choices. This positive change allowed Lance to earn a Division 1 football scholarship as a student-athlete @ the University of Colorado @ Boulder. Lance has presented to over 120,000 students, parents and administrators in Colorado since 2006 and is now broadening his message to other states. Lance serves on the board of directors for two organizations, the Buffs4Life Foundation and the Bold Youth Foundation. Prior to joining College In Colorado, Lance served as the Western Regional Scout for the Philadelphia Eagles, responsible for the evaluation of student-athletes at over 60 universities. After attending the University of Colorado @ Boulder in the mid-1980s as a student-athlete (football) and in 1988 signed a free agent contract with the Washington Redskins. He then returned to CU-Boulder in 1990 to join the staff of the University of Colorado 1990 National Championship team, serving as the Assistant Recruiting Coordinator. Lance worked as a sports agent and marketing representative for NFL players and Olympic athletes for a 4 year period in the mid 1990s.
