Lara Setrakian is the Co-Founder and Managing Editor of Syria Deeply, an independent digital media project led by journalists and technologists, exploring a new model of storytelling around a global crisis. She's spent more than five years as a foreign correspondent, covering the Middle East for television, radio, and digital platforms, reporting for ABC News, Bloomberg Television, the International Herald Tribune, the Business Insider, and Monocle Magazine.

By fusing news and community, journalism and product design, she is developing a way to sustain in-depth and continuous coverage of vital issues. In light of that work Inc Magazine called her one of "8 Women Who Could Own the Future," while Fast Company named her one of the "Most Creative People in Business."

Lara was widely acclaimed for her groundbreaking use of social media in covering on Iran's 2009 election protests and the Arab Awakening of 2011. Lara is a Young Global Leader with the World Economic Forum and was named one of the Top Women of 2012 by Marie Claire Magazine. Lara graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University, with a degree in Government.
