It can’t be denied that playing in the thin air of Denver in a hitter’s paradise helped Larry Walker. It helps almost every batter who hits there. Still, Larry Walker was a throwback to past pure hitters and though he took advantage of his surroundings, well who wouldn’t? Walker racked up Playstation numbers in Colorado, though he was far from a slouch in Montreal. He was a seven time Gold Glove and though he was not a base stealing phenom, he was super intelligent on the base paths. Beyond playing in Coors Field, Walker is inhibited by numerous injuries and he played over 140 games four times. Had he played fifteen more games per season, he would be at a 2,500 hit milestone and would be very hard for the Hall to ignore. Currently, Larry Walker is in the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. He might get into the far more prestigious American version, but it won’t be right away.
