Director, KC STEM Alliance

The KC STEM Alliance is a collaborative network of educators, business partners and organizations that inspires interest in STEM careers in the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area. Established in 2011 with a major grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and other local funders as an independent initiative of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Computing and Engineering, the KC STEM Alliance serves as a resource for local schools in implementing STEM initiative including US FIRST Robotics and Project Lead the Way pre-engineering and bio-medical sciences curriculum. Previous positions included Regional Director for Project Lead the Way-Kansas City initiative, Vice President of the Kansas Health Institute and Manager of Public Affairs for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Prior to moving to Kansas City, she worked at the National Conference of State Legislatures as Director of Economic and Cultural Development and on the legislative staff of former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm. Laura holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Stephens College and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas.
