Lauren Scruggs

Fashion Journalist, Blogger & Author of "Still Lolo: A Spinning Propeller, a Horrific Accident, and a Family's Journey of Hope"

Lauren "Lolo" Scruggs is the author of the best-selling autobiography, "Still Lolo: A Spinning Propeller, a Horrific Accident, and a Family's Journey of Hope." In December 2011, Scruggs, a 23-year-old fashion journalist, suffered a sudden injury that made headlines around the world. Upon exiting a small plane after a short flight to see Christmas lights, she was hit by the still-moving propeller blade. A frantic 911 call, several major surgeries, and thousands of prayers later: Scruggs lived. But she lost her left hand and left eye. And she had to face some incredibly difficult challenges.

Inspired to share her message of hope and healing, Scruggs is now speaking out. She reveals what really happened that night, what got her through the journey toward healing, and how she conquered all odds to persevere. It's a compelling and fiercely beautiful story of faith, determination, and staying true to who you are - no matter what.

Scruggs was born in Redondo Beach, California and raised in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Dallas Baptist University with academic honors. Prior to launching LOLO Magazine, she worked in New York City for Gossip Girl and Michael Kors. She’s reported on Fashion Weeks in Paris, Montreal and New York, and has interviewed actors, celebrities, and fashion industry insiders.

Her second book, Your Beautiful Heart, was released in March of 2015. She also started a yearly retreat for girls that have lost a limb to create a community and encourage one another on their journey. She recently launched the Lauren Scruggs Kennedy Foundation, which exists to bring hope, restore confidence, and ignite faith in girls and women with limb loss by providing beautiful cosmetic coverings for prostheses.
