Laurent Attal is a Doctor of Medicine with a specialty in dermatology, followed by an MBA from INSEAD. He joined L’Oréal's Active Cosmetics Division in 1986 as a sales representative. He rose quickly to the position of CEO of Vichy in 1994. Four years later, Laurent Attal was named President of the Active Cosmetics Division, where he developed the portfolio on an international scale.

Active Cosmetics is today the fastest growing division in the L’Oréal Group. In 2002, he added to his duties the management of Galderma, a pharmaceutical laboratory. The same year, he was appointed a member of the company’s Executive Committee. In 2005, he was appointed President & Chief Executive Officer of L’Oréal USA. Since January 2010, he has been Executive Vice-President Research & Innovation.
