Laurie Leitch, Ph.D. has been a clinical trainer, researcher and organizational consultant for over 25 years. She is the co-founder of Threshold GlobalWorks, and the Trauma Resource Institute. She has co-developed models of intervention that provide stabilization skills training in neuroscience-based trauma programs appropriate with complex trauma and for use with adults and children suffering from long-term and acute trauma as well as war-zone trauma. Threshold has developed a specialized program for organizations called the Social Resilience Model. That model targets today’s highly networked and demanding organizational environments with their increasing rates of burn-out, secondary traumatization, demoralization, and staff attrition. It develops collective capacity-building to amplify resilience in individuals and groups at all levels of organizations. The model's development was supported by a Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Fellowship. Leitch has extensive experience providing clinical training and consultation in diverse and cross-cultural settings. Her experience with complex trauma includes providing treatment following the 9-11 attacks, treatment and clinical training in southern Thailand after the tsunami, in Louisiana following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, providing self-regulation training to counselors working with genocide survivors in Rwanda, in China following the 2008 earthquake, and in internally displaced person’s camps in Kenya following the post-election tribal violence. She currently has a project in Haiti to expand local capacity to deliver self-regulation skills in IDP camps and grassroots organizations. Her self-regulation model, developed with Elaine Miller-Karas, was recently named a promising practice in a white paper prepared for Congress by the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury. Leitch’s consistent focus is designing and implementing resilience-oriented approaches in which collaborative intelligence enhances and reinforces individual and organizational well-being.
