Leon Wieseltier is literary editor of The New Republic, a position he has held since 1983. He is the author of Nuclear War, Nuclear Peace; Against Identity; and the widely acclaimed Kaddish. His influential essays span a broad range of topics—including culture, politics, religion, foreign policy, national security policy, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Middle East, humanitarian intervention, and contemporary genocide—and have been widely published in the United States and abroad. He is the recipient of numerous fellowships and awards, including the Dan David Prize, which he was awarded in 2013.
