Liesel Vaidya

Co-Founder & CTO of Leda Health; Sexual Assault Awareness Advocate

Liesel Vaidya is a young sexual assault advocate and technologist hoping to revolutionize the ways in which sexual assault is handled on a holistic scale. She is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Leda Health Company, formerly known as MeToo Kits Company.

In 2019, Vaidya co-founded MeToo Kits Company in Brooklyn, New York in order to create a system meant to solve the issues with how sexual assault is managed. She saw some fundamental problems, such as the inefficiencies present in the design of sexual assault examination kits (SAEKs), the lack of innovation or use of technology, and the complex, hard-to-use set of instructions that comes along with them. She also considered the unwelcoming aesthetic of the kits and decided they needed retooling.

While the initial idea was an at-home sexual assault examination kit, Vaidya and her co-founder Madison Campbell realized that much more work must be done in order to resolve the widespread issues. Using her experience in computer science, technology, social media, and problem-solving, Vaidya was ready to take MeToo Kits Company to the next level.

Thus, from MeToo Kits grew Leda Health Company - the survivor company. Under the new name, the company is seeking to not only revolutionize forensic collection and testing through the use of patent-pending technology, but also to connect survivors with medical professionals and supportive communities through the production of an interactive, anonymous application software. For sexual assault survivors, the restoration of autonomy and the administration of care are of the utmost importance. This is what Vaidya, and Leda Health Company, aim to achieve.
